JWST XLSSC 122 Data Release

The JWST mosaic images of XLSSC 122 are hosted here. The data reduction was performed by Zach Scofield (Yonsei University). A description of the observations can be found in our strong lensing paper.

Data Description

The images above show the galaxy cluster XLSSC 122 at a redshift of z=1.98.

A distant look into the past
JWST's deep imaging provides an exceptionally detailed look at this distant cluster, with a limiting magnitude of 30.9 in the deepest filter.
Imaging & processing
The JWST mosaics are resampled with a pixel scale of 0.02 arcsec/pixel using the JWST Science Calibration Pipeline, with systematic effects corrected with the Yonsei Observable UNiverse Group JWST pipeline
Notable features
The JWST imaging reveals two remarkable features: asymmetric ICL suggesting ongoing merger activity, and strong lensing arcs that signal a highly concentrated cluster core.
